So are they worth the sidegrade? Depends. Not a pair to wear in the presence of potential love interests or people you want to impress, the X2s. Oh, and another thing - the X2 are huge! Seriously, unless you have a very large head the X2s are going to make you look like a small child wearing an oversized crash helmet. For me this is a total deal breaker but YMMV. The X2 is no different in this regard - the fit was loose and the ear cups were resting on the tops of my ears (whereas the X1s fit my head perfectly, incidentally). My head is average size or a little smaller, which is why I generally have issues with suspension headbands. So all's good with the sound but for me things weren't quite so rosy with the fit / ergonomics. The soundstage is bigger than the HD600 too, with the trade off being that you lose that sense of intimacy and naturalness that makes vocals on the HD600 so engaging. The X2 is not a V-shaped headphone though - the mids still sound good without being thin and recessed like a lot of "fun sounding" headphones. To me the X2s sounded like a HD600 if the mids took a few steps back in the mix and you boosted the bass and treble to make them more prominent. As someone who found the X1s a too coloured the X2 was a pleasant surprise. - Posts that talk about the state of the sub.- For all headphone or headphone gear comparison questions.- Posts that link to deals for headphones or related equipment.- Posts that involve modifying or creating something headphone related.- Posts that are related to industry news.- Posts that are meant to generate discussion on any relevant subject to headphones.- This includes any post that is a person sharing their thoughts on a headphone, includes impressions and reviews./r/audiorepair - Repair help for audio gear./r/BudgetAudiophile - for restricted budget-hifi./r/diyaudio - Do-It-Yourself Audio - also /r/diytubes and /r/diysound.
